The Elektrik Zoo’s debut feature documentary “Tokyo Cowboys” will screen in competition for Best Documentary at the Little Rock Film Festival in Arkansas in June. The Little Rock Film Festival is one of the South’s premiere film and cultural events.
“We are extremely excited to screen the film to a Southern audience,” says co-director Daneeta Loretta Saft, who hails from the deep South. “And there’s a weird connection with Little Rock. When I arrived in the countryside of Fukuoka-ken to teach English my first year in Japan, one of the two other foreigners living in my town was from Little Rock. I’ve lost touch with him, so I hope he finds his way to the festival to see the film.”
A wholly independent feature documentary , “Tokyo Cowboys” follows the stories of four western men living long-term in Tokyo. The film’s delicate and humorous portrait illuminates the price some pay for a taste of Tokyo’s success.
