There is something about the house on Desire Street: so far deep into the Bywater that it’s almost the countryside. At night, and even in the cold light of day, we have seen angels & demons, ghosts & skeletons. Why, just last night, in the back corner of Alton’s garden (in this very space you see before you): a glimpse of the world to come. When nature, filled with desire, takes over man’s disastrous endeavors, envelopes them all and turns them into fleeting memory. That is how it all ends.
