FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Veteran Elektrik Zoo writer signs with Examiner.com
New Orleans, LA – January 29, 2009 – Daneeta Loretta Jackson, co-founder of the creative partnership The Elektrik Zoo, has signed on with Examiner.com as their New Orleans City Life Examiner. Jackson (formerly Daneeta Loretta Saft) is a veteran writer of creative non-fiction. She has published internationally including features in Metropolis in Tokyo and The Guardian in London.
“I wanted to see if my style of writing would integrate into this kind of format,” said Jackson, who has been tending her own blogs since 2003. “What I like about Examiner is that I can write short, concise pieces using my own voice. It took me two or three articles to find my way, but once I published ‘Derek says,’ I hit it. The pieces are more creative than newsy, however, they provide information to a New Orleans audience.”
Photographs accompanying the pieces are taken by The Elektrik Zoo’s other half, award-winning cinematographer and director Patrick Jackson. The two have been collaborating since 2000 and co-founded The Elektrik Zoo in 2002. The Jacksons relocated their partnership from London to New Orleans in the fall of last year to begin work on their second feature.
