She’s barely hanging on. Situated between Mickey and Jesus, Mrs. Carmella is at the end of it all. She’s talking to angels and praying with people that only she can see. Soon, she says, she will pass to the other side. Sometimes she can see those shores right in front of her. Right here in Ronnie and Brenda’s living room, the ceiling opens up, and Jesus looks down on her. She looks through us sometimes to answer questions from beyond. From whom? Her little brother dead in child birth some 90 years ago, her mother and, strangely, the butcher who sold her a soup bone on the day she started kindergarten. “I like coffee,” Carmella says. And we know that she is back with us, if only for the moment.
Thank you elektrikzoo for providing me a chance to see Miss Camellia at the end of her days. Such a precious soul. I like coffee too so im going to make a fresh pot to have one for her. Love you Miss Camellia.
