They'd rented a camp on Grand Isle, and we drove for hours during the night to arrive on the sandy beach at sunrise and to swim in the brown salty waters of the Gulf. I can hardly access that memory now, it's been a span of decades. Here is Grand Isle today. Now we are the adults eating sandwiches and drinking ice cold bottles of beer as we bury our feet in the sand, throw the football out and then dive for it into the murky waters. Floating and buzzed, I feel the freedom of letting go. I feel the history of awakenings. #GrandIsle #swimming #awakenings
