The Kirmann Project Continues

Daneeta’s Journal:

We have finally uploaded some of the work we’ve been doing on the Kirmann Project. I refer you to the links to Patrick’s favorites here, here and here (no animals were harmed in the making of these pieces).

In case you are just tuning in, the Kirmann Projection Project is the third collaboration we’ve done with Franz Kirmann, the French composer and musical artist based out of South London. See music videos “Liza” and “Little Baby Eyes” for the first two collaborations. This is also our second collaboration with my niece, Dominique Thompson (pictured above), who starred in “Little Baby Eyes.”

For me, working with Dominique always has a sort of documentary quality to it. I am very aware that we are capturing a moment not only for a piece of art but for my family as well. And, she really is a joy to work with. Because she is trained as a dancer, we can really push her physically. And, because we are related, I think there is a level of trust that allows us to do all sorts of experimentation.

The pieces are non-narrative and heavily treated visually. They will be mixed live by a VJ and projected behind Kirmann as he performs on his European tour.
